Power Yoga

Inspired by the teachings of Pattabhi Jois and Baron Baptiste, Power Yoga is energetic, creative and mindful. By deliberately moving our body thru space we wake up all the energy channels in the body and build tapas, or discipline, so that can move thru life with strength and grace.

The Rocket Series

The Rocket was created by Larry Schultz when he was teaching yoga to the Grateful Dead. Realizing that the athleticism of Ashtanga wasn’t right for the Jam Band, he re-sequenced the Astanga primary series to be more accessible to them. When Bob Weir asked Larry what the yoga they were learning was called, Larry said it didn’t have name. “You should call it Rocket, because it gets you there faster” and so the Rocket was born.

The Rocket consists of 3 distinct sequences. Rocket One is based off Primary Series and practiced on Mondays (to warm you up) and Thursday (as an active recovery). Rocket Two is based off the Intermediate Series and is practiced on Tuesdays (up the mountain) and Wednesday (the peak of the week!). Rocket Three is combination of Rocket One and Two (ninety+ poses in ninety minutes).

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is slow, meditative and powerful practice. This practices gives the muscles a break so that you can more effectively stretch the Fascia, connective tissue in your body. Based on meridian theory, these practices bring balance back to the body and challenge the movement of the mind.

Meditation

Ultimately the purpose of Asana, the physical yoga practice, is to purify and prepare the body to sit with sthira, steadiness, and Sukam, sweetness. Meditation allows you to go within and examine the rich world inside yourself. Overtime, consistent practice can help to build patience, calmness and focus. Yoga Nidra is powerful meditation practice, sometimes called "yogic sleep” this practice takes deep within to cultivate and support your life’s purpose.

Yoga Philosophy

The Physical Practices of Yoga Asana, the poses, and Pranayama, the breath work, are only small portions of the yoga practice. All our classes incorporate Yoga Philosophy to the practice to help set the tone for more than just a work out. The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali and The Bhagavad Gita serve as guides to ease not only our yoga practice, but our life.
